Sainik School General Info
Sainik Schools were opened in different regions of our country in the year 1960-61 with utmost efforts of the then Defence Minister Mr. V K Krishna Menon. At present there are 25 Sainik Schools in our country. Sainik Schools are residential schools for boys providing public school education with a military bias.
The aim of these schools is to prepare students academically, physically and psychologically for entry into the National Defence Academy at Pune. These schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education New Delhi. And the syllabus is that of CBSE.>/B>
School Fees: The guardians /parents of the students studying in Sainik School are required to pay an amount of Rupees 48000 per annum. Besides this, pocket money of Rupees 1500 per year is to be paid by every student including scholarship holders. For Further information kindly check the school Prospectus.
A few merit cum means scholarships are available. The share of the state government for full scholarship is Rupees 12000 and that of the centre is Rupees 2000 the rest of the fees is to be borne by the parents.
For admission in SAINIK SCHOOL, 67% of the seats of each school are reserved for boys from the state in which the School is located. 25% of Reserved for Defence Service personnel. 8% Seats are reserved for UT of the respective states. Certain Quota from the 67% is reserved for students belonging to SC and ST Community.
The seat for Class VI is 125 and about 20 seats in Class IX per year, out of which 33% is reserved for children of Defence personnel.
