Note :
1. As per Sainik Schools Society rules, the Tuition Fee and
Diet Money will generally
increase by 10% every year and to be paid by the parents/guardians.
2. The fee can be revised by Board of Governors, Sainik Schools Society without any
notice.

ADMISSION CRITERIA:-
Admission to Sainik School is made strictly on the basis of the merit list prepared
after All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination,
which consists of written test,
interview
and medical examination.
(a) For Class VI, the written examination includes –
(i) Mathematical Knowledge Test - 100 marks
- Paper - I
(ii) Language Ability Test - 100 marks
(iii) Intelligence Test - 100 marks - Paper - II
Note : The candidate will have option of attempting the question paper either in
HINDI, ENGLISH or any other official language recognized by Govt. of India for
admission to this School.
(b) For Class IX, the examination comprising the following subjects –
(i) (a) Mathematics - 200 marks
- Paper - I
(b) Science - 75 marks
(ii) (a) English - 100 marks
- Paper - II
(b) Social Studies - 75 marks
Note : Medium for taking test for Class IX candidates is ENGLISH only.
Entrance Examination will be held on the same day all over the country
except Sainik
School, Nagrota (Jammu & Kashmir).
SYLLABUS
The syllabus for the Entrance Examination for admission in class VI and IX
will be as
prescribed by NCERT for CBSE of class V and VIII respectively.
MEDICAL EXAMINATION & INTERVIEW
In addition to 300 marks prescribed for written examination for Class VI
and
450
marks for Class IX,
an Interview will carry 50 marks for both classes.
All candidates called
for Interview shall be subjected to
a Medical Examination by a Board consisting of Military
or Civil Doctors.
Prior to admission, an appropriate number of candidates
(approximately three times
more than the seats to be filled)
from amongst those who qualify in the entrance examination
shall be called for
Interview and Medical Examination (Details at Appendix ‘L’).
Keeping in view the number of vacancies,
a final list of candidates will be drawn
strictly in order of merit for admission.
AVAILABILITY OF QUESTION PAPERS
For information and reference old question papers
can be obtained from the School
Office on payment of Rs.25/-, If available.
Any modification in the form and contents of the
questions cannot be ruled out.
RESERVATION OF SEATS
46. The seats for admission to Sainik Schools are reserved as under:-
(a) Scheduled Castes : 15%
(b) Scheduled Tribes : 7.5%
(c) Domicile of the state in which School is located : 67%
(d) Children of defence personnel including : 25%
Ex-servicemen.
ALLOTMENT OF SEATS
Reservation- Rules and
Regulations.
The hypothetical case of 100 seats are interpreted as under :-
(a) The boys belonging to SC/ST will be admitted .
15% for SC and 7.5% for ST. Out of 100 seats,
thus 15+8=23 will go to SC and ST.
(b) The remaining qualified boys from home State will be arranged under
List-A
and vacancies of defence personnel and general category will be arranged in order of
merit and allotted as per the reservation
(c) List-B will be prepared in which all the boys left over from List-A
and boys not
belonging to the home state will be arranged in order of merit
and sub allocation of
defence and general category will be made under rules given in the Sainik Schools
Society as follows :-
Example-
(i) Total Seats : 100
(ii) SC 15% of 100 : 15
(iii) ST 7.5% of 100 : 08
(iv) Balance Seats
(i)–[(ii)+(iii)] or 100 – (15 + 8) : 77
List-A List-B
67% of 77 = 52 Distribution of remaining 25 seats
(List of all
left over students of List-A and all boys not
belonging to home state)
(a) Defence : 25% of 52 = 13 (a) Defence 25% of 25 = 6
(b) General Category: 52 – 13 = 39 (b) General Category : 25 – 6 = 19
(c) Total : = 52 (c) Total = 25
Therefore, total allocation of seats out of 100 will be as under :-
SC : 15
ST : 08
Defence : 19 (List-A 13 + List-B 06)
General : 58 (List-A 39 + List-B 19)
Total : 100
Note : In case a SC/ST candidate comes in the general merit on his own,
he
would be admitted against general seat and will not be adjusted against
the reserved share of SC/ST seats.
ELIGIBILITTY
(a) For Class VI: Candidates should be in the age group of 10-11 years as on 1st July
of the admission year.
(b) For Class IX: Candidates should be in the age group of 13-14 years as on 1st
July of the admission year AND must be studying in Class VIII.

(b) Class IX : 10 (Approx. – which can be increased or decreased)
